Coastal Colors

Coastal Colors Jeannie and Robert McLean bought their 1927 house in 1995. They state, "We love all the windows and awnings on our pink blossom resurrection. It is a real Tampa house."



Concrete Tile Roof Made with sand and cement, these roof tiles are comprised of earth-friendly building materials. Since concrete is a good insulator, and the light color does not absorb much heat, they are energy efficient, also.

Ground Cover Asian vanilla flanks the trail and boundaries the hedges. This dark-green floor cover is fast-growing and adds layers into a level yard. It thrives in warm climates.

Wraparound Porch Ashley and David Germain bought their 1908 home in 2005. They state, "The wide porch is our favorite thing about the house. In addition, we enjoy the glass layout on front doorway."

Round Window Not every window has to match anonymous. A quirky porthole in the center of the next floor stands out among most of the double-hung models and adds character to the all-white house.

Front Door The diamond mullion pattern in the glass is echoed on the transom and sidelight windows around it. The door receives a brand new color every couple of years try this. Last time it was pink why not look here look here. Next up: coral!



Boston Ferns In the white cement planters in the brick columns line the front steps, the Germains planted Boston ferns. They seem tropical and need virtually no maintenance in warm climates.



Flower Beds 'Sonnet yellow' snapdragons and 'Angelina' sedum grow in front of the porch. Both thrive in the summer.

Brick Path and Steps The brick walk warms up the front of the house. To prevent stains, clean leaves regularly.
