General Jackson Showboat Aboard a 300-foot-showboat like a night of Nashville's breathtaking skyline, a dinner and a stage show. This has become one of Nashville's most popular activities.



The Tennessee State Capital Building Located on Charlotte Avenue, the Capitol is the home of the Tennessee legislature, the sheriff's office, and is now a National Historic Landmark. The Greek Revival structure was designed by renowned architect William Strickland and took over fourteen years to build.



Nashville Public Library The library's main construction downtown is a work of art worth wandering, even if you are not into libraries. Vanderbilt University Commonly called Vandy, this independent university was set up in the spring of 1873 by Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt. Today, this privately endorsed establishment thrives as the largest private employer in Middle Tennessee.



The Parthenon and Centennial Park With Nashville's mild winters, Centennial Park is occupied year-round, but summer is its own glory season with a lot of free programming such as big band music and dance, weekly films, Shakespeare in the Park, Musicians Corner concerts and all kinds of festivals. First Center for the Visual Arts The basis of Nashville's burgeoning visual arts landscape, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts started in 2001 at Nashville's former main post office, a 1930s art deco building. Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, in the heart of downtown, commemorates Tennessee's 200th birthday in 1996 and provides a view of the Capitol building. A Tennessee history and geography lesson is built into the park's design.



Nashville Zoo and Gardens Nestled deep among trees that reflect the animals' natural habitats, the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere delights children and adults alike. The Famous Ryman Auditorium There's no substitution for the storied Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church of Country Music.
